Premier League Fantasy gameweek four preview

FPL players did not have to wait long for the first hammer blow of the 2022/23 campaign, with several of the big hitters failing to deliver last weekend.

It wouldn't be fantasy football without a few hiccups, but those who stuck by Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland may have come through a tough week with a few bumps and bruises at the worst.

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was the surprise package from gameweek three, as was Gunners team-mate William Saliba.

Odegaard scored 16 points, two more than his fellow Gunners ace, while Jack Harrison and Rodrigo added 27 points between them for Leeds United as they beat Chelsea 3-0.

The beauty of fantasy football Premier League is that there is no time to rest and whether readers are playing the official game, telegraph fantasy football, sky fantasy football, or sun fantasy football - there's the opportunity to bounce back this weekend.

With gameweek four on the horizon, we have picked out five players that could make the difference this week.

Goalkeeper - Nick Pope

The experts at Fantasy Football Scout have picked out Nick Pope as their goalkeeper of choice for gameweek four, and it is hard to argue against it.

The Magpies keeper has already picked up 19 points so far, the third highest total for a shot-stopper. Eddie Howe's side face Wolves this week and, with Bruno Lage's men only scoring one goal so far, now could be the perfect time to put your faith in the England international.

Newcastle are 17/10 to win this weekend, while an away victory to nil is priced at 10/3.

Defender - Ivan Perisic

Former Inter Milan ace Ivan Perisic has had to bide his time for a regular spot in the starting XI, but it looks like he will now get the chance to shine.

He scored 12 points last time out as Tottenham beat Wolves 1-0. Perisic is a constant threat down the left wing, and he could help players make giant strides in their mini-leagues, especially while the likes of Andrew Robertson and Reece James continue to struggle.

Midfielder - Mohamed Salah

Those who take to social media to discuss their team have already mentioned using their fantasy football wildcard.

While it may be a bit early, those who plan to use it need to include Salah in their team.

Even while Liverpool were in poor form last week, he still managed to score to give his backers a glimmer of hope.

Salah has 22 points so far and with Bournemouth next up, he could have a field day against a team who are struggling against the big boys.

There are thousands of fantasy football tips. Here's a simple one - select Salah and reap the rewards - the Egypt international is available at 4/6 to score at any time or 11/4 to score first at Anfield on Saturday.

Midfielder - Rodrigo

Leeds United fans had started to give up on Spain international Rodrigo after a tame few years, but he has stepped up to the plate in the absence of Raphinha.

With the Brazilian now playing his football for Barcelona, Leeds needed a new hitman in the final third and it appears that Rodrigo has got what it takes.

Leeds have a decent run of fixtures coming up, with Brighton, Everton, Brentford and Nottingham Forest all in the pipeline.

Rodrigo has already scored 35 points and at £6.3m in Premier League fantasy football, that is a risk worth taking.

Striker - Gabriel Jesus

Arsenal have made a stunning start to the new season and they are the only Premier League side to still have a 100 per cent winning record.

Mikel Arteta's side have improved tenfold since the arrival of Gabriel Jesus from Manchester City, and he has rewarded them with two goals and three assists.

Arsenal face newly-promoted Fulham this week, before they then take on Aston Villa.

Jesus could reward players handsomely in the next few weeks and he is 20/21 to score at any time against the Cottagers on Saturday evening.
