Aussie Rules: Dockers confirm Fyfe return

Fremantle have confirmed captain Nat Fyfe will make his return to action via the WAFL this weekend rather than the AFL showdown against the Brisbane Lions.

The Dockers have made a great start to the season and sit in third place on the ladder following the shock win over reigning premiers Melbourne. They are priced at 10/11 to make the top four.

Fyfe boost

Just to give the Dockers an extra boost, Fyfe is now closing in on his first start of this AFL season after recovering from shoulder and back injuries.

There was a suggestion that he could play against second-placed Brisbane this weekend. However coach Justin Longmuir has confirmed the State League is the way to go and the star mid will line up for Peel Thunder.

"He knows his body better than anyone and he knows his confidence," Longmuir told Channel Seven. "He thinks this is the
right step for him to have a big crack at the second half of the year, so we just listened to him.

"We will play him for about 90 minutes which is a good progression for him. I probably won’t give too much away about what positions he will play, but he will play a role that will allow him to adapt to the AFL."

Confidence booster

If all goes well then there is a chance Fyfe could play AFL the week after. But again Longmuir will be guided by the player.

"If he feels really confident and he feels like he has adapted really well and taken the hits and his fitness is at a good level, then we will be guided by him next week,” he added.
