Jason Davidson says Melbourne Victory are peaking at just the right time but knows how important it is to stay injury free as they enter the business end of the A-League season.
Victory are priced at 5/1 to win the A-League grand final and sit third on the A-League ladder after thumping Melbourne City 3-0 at the weekend.
Tony Popovic’s side are now unbeaten in their last nine games and have seven to play before the finals campaign gets underway.
It is a crucial time and Davidson says if they can stay injury free they will be in a great position to shine when the finals campaign gets underway.
"This is what you get paid for now, this is the business end of the season," Davidson said. "It's always nice to have a good start to the season but we all know that this is the business end of the season now.
"So it's about timing that run, making sure that we're consistent. Hopefully stay injury free in the squad, I think injuries will be a big part of this next block of games."
Victory are 12 points behind leaders Melbourne City but do have four games in hand. Next up is Brisbane Roar on Tuesday night and Davidson says there can be no slip ups.
"The games are coming thick and (fast) and the games can't be postponed anymore so you've got to play with what you've got," Davidson added. "One week, a couple of teams lost 5-0, the next week they're winning, and everyone's beating everyone.
"What we want to focus on is making sure that we take each game as they come and be consistent and giving ourselves the best opportunity to catch the two teams above us."
