Greyhounds: Dave Clark's bet365 Challenge Cup final preview

In the absence of any horse racing in the UK or Ireland on Friday, all eyes will be on Greyhounds racing and the bet365 Challenge Cup final.

Friday will see a total of 78 races from six different tracks, including the £10,000 bet365 Challenge Cup final at Oxford, and you can watch all the action unfold live through the bet365 Greyhounds Live Streaming service.

Another win for Wallis?

12-time champion trainer Mark Wallis will be crowned the top handler once again at the end of 2022 and he can cap another fine year with success in the 650m main event on Friday night at 21:04.

Despite tasting defeat in her quarter-final and semi-final, the Wallis-trained Antigua Sugar is taken to make all the running from a great draw out wide in trap six.

Last week we were right to take her on after she faded badly when beaten in her quarter, but the milder weather and less demanding conditions will suit the Towcester Juvenile Classic champion.

There is no doubting how vulnerable she has looked in the latter stages, but she may end up scooting a long way clear here and can build an unassailable lead.

She again dons the striped jacket of trap six, but can zip around the outside as the field navigates the opening two turns and employ catch-me-if-you-can tactics.

Racing room at a premium on the inside

In a clean run race, the fancied favourite could be vulnerable late on once again, but there is a strong possibility of crowding on the inside with the speedy Gizmo Smasher looking for the inside rail from trap three.

The Eclipse semi-finalist is classy over four bends and has the early pace to assert, but he may meet Towcester Hunt Cup champion Chelms Cub at the bend as he moves inside and hinders the chances of both finalists.

Chelms Cub reeled in Antigua Sugar in the quarter-final from a long way back and is rightly chalked up second in on the betting.

Jason Heath has enjoyed a fine year, the Hove handler recently landed the George Curtis & Ballyregan Bob Memorial with Clongeel Ozzie and has a talented team of dogs in his kennel right now.

Kevin Hutton's Wota Swell Party has improved with every outing at Oxford and is a must for forecast and tricast punters, she sees out the trip well and can stay on past beaten rivals.

Puppy Derby resumes

Weather and trap malfunction have delayed the on-going £10,000 RPGTV English Puppy Derby at Towcester.

The four quarter-finals look likely to take place at Towcester on Friday, headlining a star-studded card also featuring trial stakes for the upcoming Blue Riband.

Antepost favourite Romeo Command is an extremely exciting prospect, Patrick Janssens' unbeaten star is the one to beat and is a greyhound to follow into 2023.

To watch a stream you must first place a bet on a BAGS, SIS, RPGTV or ATR race of at least £0.50 win, or £0.25 Each-Way (or currency equivalent) and this bet must be placed on the day of the race. Only available to eligible customers.
