Esports: CS:GO Brazy Party Wednesday Preview

It may be a quiet week on the CS:GO front, but that doesn't mean there isn't some form of action for some of the top teams in the game.

With the BLAST Premier Spring Finals and the inaugural Paris Major not too far off, things will soon heat up on the CS:GO scene but this week it is all about the Brazy Party. An European A-tier event that features well known organisations such as Cloud9, Astralis, BIG and OG will battle it out with 12 others for a chance at a total prize pool of $300,000.

The event begins on Wednesday, with a double elimination Group Stage, before moving onto a single elimination style playoff. There are four matches to open the event. Let's take a closer look at the matches on Wednesday's slate.

Eternal should escape by a small margin

OddsEternal Fire 5/4, Apeks 4/7

Group A of Brazy Party 2023 opens with a fun match-up between Eternal Fire and Apeks Gaming. In some already big news, Eternal Fire will have Wicadia in the line-up subbing for xf0ud. That shouldn't make much of a difference, but both teams are fairly similar as they both find themselves ranked 32nd and 33rd in the world rankings.

Eternal haven't looked that great of late, with losses in four of their last five matches overall. As for Apeks they have been blazing hot, with a five-match winning streak. Then again, a majority of those wins have come against far inferior opponents.

These teams know each other well, with 10 maps played between the teams in the last two seasons. The most recent meeting saw Eternal Fire win in three maps, as they lost in overtime on Mirage on the opening map, only to reverse sweep Apeks on Anubis 16-13 and on Inferno 16-11.

XANTARES might be the difference maker Eternal need to sneak past Apeks. Apeks' top performer has been jL, whose numbers are very similar to XANTARES.

paiN Gaming should expect a tough match

OddspaiN 4/7, ITB 5/4

The first match of Group B sees paiN Gaming from Brazil taking on the British organisation Into the Breach. INB have really come on as they find themselves up to #35 in the world. They have a chance to make some noise against paiN Gaming who sit inside the top 20.

The match-up to watch in this one is paiN's skullz against ITB rallen. Both teams enter this event on recent winning streaks. Into the Breach have played against elite level teams lately and held their own, including a close 22-19 overtime loss against Natus Vincere.

It seems easy to jump on the paiN Gaming train, with three shutout wins in their last four matches, yet they haven't faced ITB before. Expect a close match, but paiN Gaming still have a far more experienced line-up when it comes to high level tournaments.

OG are expected to emerge triumphant

WhatOG v GODSENT

OddsOG 1/3, GODSENT 9/4

OG and GODSENT meet in a Group A match-up. GODSENT have a lot of work to do, especially with their chances of playing in the upcoming Major events all but gone. They have a slight chance of changing their hopes and the direction of the team if they can knock off OG. Plopski joined the organisation in January from NIP, and things have clicked for the team.

GODSENT were typically a team that found themselves inside the top 30 in the world rankings, but that hasn't been the case thus far in the 2023 season. As for OG they find themselves safely inside the top 15. Neither team has much to be happy about coming in with OG losing two of their last three matches, while Godsent have lost their last two in a row.

The teams last faced-off in the IEM Dallas 2023 Europe closed qualifier when OG won a three-map duel. If GODSENT continue to struggle, the rest of 2023 is going to be rough.

Even without faveN, BIG can cover

OddsBIG (-1.5) 6/5, 00Nation (+1.5) 8/13

A huge clash to finish off the opening day of Brazy Party 2023. This match sees BIG taking on 00NATION. There is one big thing for BIG, as they won't have faveN in the line-up. Luckily for them they have a strong stand-in as prosus gets a big opportunity.

00NATiON look to take advantage of that line-up change. They won't have an easy task with losses against far inferior opponents compared to what BIG have been facing lately. BIG have lost their last two matches but those came against Natus VIncere and Vitality, two of the best teams in the world.

00NATION have a respectable line-up led by latto, but BIG, even without faveN, is still the right call to cover the spread and win.
