North Queensland Cowboys fear Heilum Luki could be ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a suspected ACL in Friday night’s win over the Dragons.
The Cowboys are priced at 11/1 to win the 2022 NRL grand final but could have to do it without Luki if the club’s worst fears are confirmed by scans.
North Queensland continued their impressive season with a 31-12 win over the Dragons, but the win has come at a cost.
Luki picked up the injury during a tackle in the 15th minute of the game in Townsville. The 21-year-old will now need scans to discover the full extent of the damage but coach Todd Payten did not sound too optimistic after the game.

Payten said the player will be sent for scans and everyone will be keeping their fingers cross for the player.
"He's definitely going for scans but it doesn't look great," Payten told reporters after the game. "Fingers crossed for him, but we'll know more in the next 24 to 48 hours.”
However there is some better news concerning Jeremiah Nanai who picked up an ankle injury while playing for Queensland in State of Origin on Wednesday night.
Thankfully the injury is not that serious and he hopes to be back in action sooner rather than later.
"Fingers crossed on Tuesday I'll find out if I can play next week," Nanai told channel 9’s Johnathan Thurston at half-time. "It's just a minor injury."
