Royal Ascot - Racing: Cole going for Coventry quadruple

Paul and Oliver Cole are looking forward to descending on Royal Ascot with another talented juvenile, as Royal Scotsman tunes up for the Coventry Stakes.

Oliver Cole has already won the race three times - with Dilum in 1991, Sri Pekan in 1994 and Red Sea in 1998 - and Royal Scotsman is a 12/1 chance for the juvenile Group 2 on day one of the royal meeting on June 14th after winning impressively at Goodwood on his second start.

Cole has high hopes with Scotsman

Trainer Cole said: "He's never put a foot wrong except when he ran at Ascot first time out. He just didn't race, but was very impressive at Goodwood - he did it in strides.

"He's come on a bit for the race, but it's hard to tell because you can't get him off the bridle at home.

"Bar Ascot, he's done nothing to say he's not a very good horse. Jim Crowley, who rode him at Ascot and has ridden plenty of good horses, was very keen to ride him in the Coventry, so we're expecting a big run.

"But nobody will know the winner until it's over. Everybody will go thinking they have a chance."
