Chiellini relishing Spain showdown

Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini insists he is "savouring every single moment" of his career as he prepares for his country's Nations League semi-final clash with Spain.

Italy are 6/5 to win in 90 minutes and are priced up at 11/4 to win the Nations League tournament as a whole.

Defender enjoying best international days

Chiellini made his debut for the Italy national team back in 2004 but did not feature in the World Cup two years later and had found success hard to come by in internationals.

But that changed earlier this year when he marshalled a defence who helped Italy win Euro 2020, beating England on penalties in the final at Wembley.

And in the same year Italy now have a shot at another international trophy in the form of the Nations League.

The Azzurri progressed to the competition's last four after finishing top of Group A, which featured Netherlands, Poland and Bosnia.

Savouring the moment

They will now face Spain in Milan for a place in the 2020-21 Nations League final, in which either side will face the winner of Belgium v France, which takes place on Thursday.

And Chiellini, who celebrated his 37th birthday in August, is happy to just be part of the team going into Wednesday's match.

Speaking in a press conference on Tuesday, he said: "I'm very pleased with what I'm doing, I'm savouring every single moment of my career.

"And I really am enjoying every single moment of my footballing old age, a lot more than the previous years, even when I was necessarily getting to the latter stages of all the competitions.

"We'll see how fair it can go on for and I like being around these young guys that really give me a big lift."
