Union Berlin have been one of the surprise packages of the season so far, having challenged Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund for top spot in the standings.

Although their title challenge has hit the buffers somewhat in recent weeks, they remain on course to secure a place in the Champions League.

They may have won just one of their last five games in all competitions, but the dangling carrot of elite European football makes them appealing at 6/5

Augsburg still have to make sure of their top-flight status but they are down in 13th for a reason - they don't score enough goals or win enough games.

Union Berlin boast the meanest defence in Germany and although all six of their defeats have come on the road, they won 1-0 Borussia Monchengladbach in their last away game and can do so again this weekend.

Goals expected in CL six-pointer

OddsFreiburg 3/1, Draw 11/4, RB Leipzig 17/20

There is a massive six-pointer taking place at the Europa-Park Stadion where fourth-placed Freiburg entertain a RB Leipzig side that are just a place and two points behind them.

These two clashed in the DFB Pokal in midweek and it was Marco Rose's men who ran out very comfortable 5-1 winners, and anything like a repeat result will see them usurp their hosts in the top four.

Freiburg will be desperate to bounce back and have only lost one of their last 11 games in the Bundesliga, a narrow 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich.

Although that cup result came away from home, RB Leipzig have struggled on the road in the league, winning just five of their 15 games and they have been tough to back with any confidence, particularly at odds-on.

Die Roten Bullen have gone eight games without defeat against Freiburg, but given how the last two games between the pair have played out (10 goals scored), and the visitors' erratic away form, backing over 2.5 goals at 10/11 is the safest way to play this game.

At the other end of the table, there is as much at stake as basement side Hertha Berlin entertain Stuttgart, who are only above 16th-placed Bochum on goal difference as they look to sustain their top-flight status.

Die Roten only avoided relegation last season by beating Cologne on the last day, but they can make things more comfortable this season by picking up the three points on Saturday.

It may seem strange backing a side that has won just once on the road all season, but that solitary away victory came against Bochum under new coach Sebastian Hoeness, who has secured eight points in a four-game unbeaten run in the league (two wins, two draws).

Admittedly, they go into this clash on the back of a 3-2 defeat in the DFB Pokal, but they are taking on a Hertha side that has has lost their last four games and conceded 12 goals in the process.

The capital club have the worst home record in the division and it appears only a matter of time when their relegation is confirmed.

It has been difficult to know what to expect from a Borussia Monchengladbach side that have lost 4-1 to bottom-side Hertha Berlin and beaten champions Bayern Munich 3-2.

Since that victory over the leaders, Daniel Farke's men have won just one of the nine subsequent games and go into this clash on the back of successive losses.

However, they have a more than respectable home record, having won eight and losing only four at Borussia-Park, and take on the side with the worst defensive record in the German top-flight, Bochum, who have won only two and lost 11 of 15 away games.

Bochum may be more desperate given they are 17th in the table, but they have not won any of their last five games, and Die Fohlen can take advantage.
