Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan chose to steer clear of a controversial umpire decision in the 10-point loss to Geelong and instead praised the Cats for taking the points.
The Lions will be pushing to win the 2022 AFL grand final and were disappointed to come out on the wrong end of Friday night’s clash.
Controversial decision
One of the main talking points came towards the end of the game. The Lions were trailing by just two points when Geelong forward Tom Hawkins appeared to push Harris Andrews before taking the mark and slotting the crucial goal.
Andrews was told on-field that Hawkins was holding his ground, but Fagan did not want to comment when he spoke to reporters after the game.

"I'm better off to let you blokes talk about that," he said. "I don't comment on umpires, it's a difficult game to umpire.
"I haven't had a chance to look at the replay, so it wouldn't be a good idea to say anything at this point in time."
Best team won
However Fagan was very gracious in defeat and felt the Cats were the better side on the night and deserved to win.
"They had a lot of inside 50s, they had a lot of scoring opportunities," he said. "Our blokes stuck at it, but our game didn't reach any high standard and a lot of that was due to Geelong's pressure. The best team won tonight.
"We didn't play to the level we can, but the opposition have something to do with that."
