Champion reinsman Chris Alford is optimistic Max Delight can shine when he contests the TAB Golden Reign Free For All at Tabcorp Park, Melton on Saturday night.
Alford has two good prospects at Melton and will also take the drive of Wobelee who will race in the DNR Logistics Vulcan Trotters Free For All.
Victoria Cup champion Max Delight will begin from gate four in the Golden Reign and looks to be the one to beat. Stablemate Malcolms Rhythm will begin on his inside and looks to be the main threat to Alford’s chances.
“(Max Delight)’s pretty versatile, he can get off the gate really quick and he can take a sit or do a bit of work in the run, it just depends on the tempo and how the race is run,” Alford said ahead of the race.
“He’s racing really well, it’s a good field Saturday night but I wouldn’t swap him for anyone.”

Meanwhile Alford admits that Wobelee is in for a tough race. They will be up against Queen Elida for starters, who Alford believes will be up with the best in the next couple of months.
However he is confident his charge will put on a good show from a decent barrier draw. He ran second to Hopeful Beauty in his last start six weeks ago.
“He ran well, she just got away from him when she sprinted, but he hit the line well. He seems to have come a long a lot better and fitter since then,” Alford added.
“He’s got not too bad a draw, even though he’s in 10 he won’t be in the early bustle and hopefully they crack out at a really good first quarter and don’t pull up in the second one and we can get home strong.”
