NBA - US Sports: NBA 2k23 Summer League Day 4 preview

There are eight games to look forward to on day four of the NBA 2k23 Summer League and Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, New York Knicks and Memphis Grizzlies will all be involved.

There have been a few injury blows in Las Vegas over the last couple of days and Portland Trail Blazers have confirmed Shaedon Sharpe will miss the remainder of the preseason event.

Sharpe was selected with the seventh overall pick by the Blazers but opted to forgo his college career and the Summer League would have been an opportunity to play some meaningful minutes before the season gets underway.

Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey sustained an ankle injury early on in their win over Washington Wizards on Saturday and it remains to be seen as to whether he will be able to play again in Las Vegas.

Murray starring for Sacramento

Sacramento take on Indiana Pacers in the opening game on the fourth day of the Summer League and all eyes will be on the Kings' impressive rookie Keegan Murray.

Sacramento opted to use their fourth pick in the draft to go for Murray and so far that looks to have been an excellent decision as he has been one of the most impressive rookies in the tournament, alongside top pick Paolo Banchero of the Orlando Magic.

The Kings lost to the Magic in their last game but Murray still managed to catch the eye with 20 points and nine rebounds, as well as hitting a game-tying three-pointer before Sacramento went on to lose in overtime.

The Pacers also have a few talented players in their squad, including Chris Duarte and Isaiah Jackson, and the opening game on Sunday may well prove to be the highlight.

Sacramento are rated at 13/10 to win the game in the Money Line and the Pacers can be backed at 4/6.

Nets take on Eastern rivals Sixers

The headlines surrounding the Brooklyn Nets are all about the futures of star duo Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, who both could be moving on this summer.

The Nets take on Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday and guard Cam Thomas admits the Brooklyn players who are in Las Vegas are aware of the rumours surrounding the pair - but he insists they will not let that derail their preparations for the new season.

"I mean, it is what it is," Thomas told reporters earlier this week, via Nets Daily. "But it's part of the business. They have their decisions, they'll make them. But you know, I'm just focusing on summer league at this point."

Thomas starred in the Summer League last year and went on to play 62 games for the Nets last season. The LSU product impressed in Brooklyn's defeat to Milwaukee Bucks in their Summer League opener with 31 points and will be looking for another big performance against Philadelphia.

Cavs guards making their marks

Cleveland take on Denver Nuggets on Sunday and after seeing off San Antonio Spurs 99-90 in their Summer League opener.

Second-year guard RJ Nembhard led the scoring against the Spurs with 20 points, five assists and three rebounds and he will be keen to put in another big display against Denver.

Nembhard managed 14 appearances for the Cavs last season after going undrafted in 2021, and will be looking to show he can be more involved in their guard rotation in the season ahead.

The Cavs selected Ochai Agbaji with the 14th overall pick this year and he had an equally impressive night against the Spurs with 17 points, three assists and two rebounds.

The Kentucky product could well be among the Rookie of the Year contenders next season and he is 28/1 to win that award.

Lakers and Dubs also involved on Sunday

Los Angeles Lakers lost their Summer League opener to Phoenix Suns and they have a chance to respond when they take on Charlotte Hornets on Sunday.

Golden State Warriors are in action against San Antonio Spurs, while Minnesota Timberwolves play Memphis Grizzlies in another Western Conference match-up.

Chicago Bulls play New York Knicks and the Suns face off against Washington Wizards.
