The Detroit Tigers acquired outfielder Austin Meadows in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The Tigers are 40/1 to win the World Series and they have obtained a much improved roster over the offseason after going 77-85 last year in a fifth consecutive losing season.
Parades goes the other way
In the same deal, the Tigers sent infielder Isaac Paredes and a competitive balance round B pick in the 2022 amateur draft to Tampa Bay for Meadows, who hit .234 with 27 home runs and a career-high 106 RBI's last season.
Meadows will join a lineup that includes Javier Baez, who signed a blockbuster deal with the Tigers in free agency, and Spencer Torkelson, one of the majors's top slugging prospects.
Meadows is a .260 hitter with 70 home runs and 225 RBI in 375 career games over four seasons.
The 26-year-old broke into the big leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates and was traded to Tampa Bay in the Chris Archer deal.

Meadows made the AL All-Star team in 2019, when he finished with a .291 batting average, 33 home runs and 89 RBI's.
Detroit made the move after outfielder Riley Greene fractured his right foot on a foul ball last week.
The 21-year-old is expected to be out of action for six to eight weeks. Greene had yet to play a game in the majors, so when he comes back, Detroit will have a formidable outfield quartet to go with a winter-bolstered infield.
Austin's brother, Parker, is the Tigers No.20 prospect, according to MLB pipeline, and also an outfielder.
He spent last season at High-A West Michigan, and made an impression in Spring Training with an improved swing and offensive approach.
