Pat Cooney is back with a couple of selections for Day Five of Royal Ascot.
The curtain closes on another memorable week of action on Saturday with the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and the Hardwicke Stakes two of the day's racing highlights.
Here are Pat's Saturday selections for Day 5 of Royal Ascot...
Saturday 24th June
3:40 - Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes
Current odds: 4/1
Pat Cooney's verdict - I actually thought that this horse would win the corresponding race a year ago, and I thought he was a little bit unlucky not to win. He's a hold-up horse, he found trouble in running but was noted flying in at the finish. What I like about his claims this time around are he seems as in good form as he was 12 months ago, and I think that if anything this race is just that little bit easier, class wise, to win. So if I thought he was a little bit unlucky last year in a better race, I am going to have to go with him in what looks to be a slightly lesser race. Artorius for Australia in the 3:40 for me.
Saturday 24th June
5:00 - Wokingham Stakes
Current odds: 6/1
Pat Cooney's verdict - Trained by Charlie Hills, this horse comes here on the back two particularly impressive wins, including over the course and distance last time out. It is a type of horse that Charlie Hills really excels with. He put together a really impressive run last time out and I just think is a horse that is going places. I can see him being in group races 12 months down the line, so I have got to consider him being a pretty well handicapped horse on Saturday in the Wokingham.
