After an impressive novice chasing season which culminated in a second in the Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham Festival before winning the Mildmay at the Grand National Festival a month later, Lucinda Russell had only one thing in mind coming into the 22/23 season.
All roads lead to the Blue Riband of Jumps racing, and Ahoy Senor is currently 10/1 third favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.
While the Gold Cup is the dream for any owner, there will be other targets before then, such as the bet365 Charlie Hall Chase at the end of October, where Ahoy Senor is 2/1 second favourite.
But naturally, one eye will already be on 17th March 2023, and co-owner Bruce Wymer says the Gold Cup is the ultimate aim: "I don't think there's any secret that we'd like him to win the Gold Cup; that's the dream."

"He's very full of confidence; a very strong horse. When you get really good horses, you're just in awe of them, and that's what he's like. I'm in awe of him," said Russell.
