WATCH: Liverpool v Arsenal Premier League preview

Steve Freeth and Sam Matterface talk through arguably the most appetising fixture of this Premier League weekend - as league leaders Arsenal face a test of their title credentials against Liverpool at Anfield.

Still eight points clear of Manchester City in second, Mikel Arteta's Arsenal are set to enter the home straight of their pursuit of a first Premier League title win since 2004, with Sunday's trip to Anfield kickstarting a tricky run of fixtures which sees the Gunners also face City, Chelsea and Newcastle over the next month.

Arsenal visit Merseyside on the back of a run of seven successive victories in the league since succumbing 3-1 at home to title rivals City at the Emirates in February, with Arteta's charges unlikely to be short of confidence ahead of this crunch meeting with Liverpool.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are in desperate need of a lift after a tough week which saw them battered 4-1 at Man City before a feeble 0-0 draw at Chelsea in midweek, with the Reds' hopes of qualifying for next season's Champions League now hanging by a thread.

Jurgen Klopp's men do have a strong record at home this season, however, having lost just once at Anfield in the Premier League against Leeds back in October, and will hope to stop Arsenal in their title-chasing tracks come this weekend in what is a notoriously hostile venue for travelling teams.

As the Premier League's second top scorers on 70, trailing Man City by just a single goal on 71, Arsenal will be confident of causing a fragile Liverpool defence problems with Gabriel Jesus notching a brace in his first start since returning from a long-term knee injury against Leeds last weekend.

With wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli having dazzled all season, registering 38 goal contributions between them in the Premier League, the out-of-sorts Liverpool dull-back duo of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson could just have their hands full at Anfield this weekend.

Liverpool can certainly pack a punch themselves on their day though, as demonstrated just last month in their 7-0 demolition of rivals Manchester United at home, and Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will be mindful of the threat the likes of Mo Salah and Darwin Nunez can pose if their defence are not fully switched on.

With both sides desperate for every point they can muster, albeit for entirely different reasons, this weekend's clash between two of English football's most famous clubs seems one not to be missed.
