Steve Freeth runs through bet365’s England market specials after the Three Lions kicked-off their Euros qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Italy on Thursday night, as Harry Kane became his country’s all-time leading scorer.
Gareth Southgate’s men went into the clash in Naples as the narrow favourites and managed to live up to their billing by securing their first success in the backyard of the Azzurri since 1961 thanks to efforts from Declan Rice and record-breaking frontman, Kane.
The victory means the Three Lions are now into 6/1 to win all eight of their Group C fixtures having been priced up at 25/1 ahead of their opening fixture, whilst they are now the outright 10/11 favourites to secure qualification to next summer’s showpiece in Germany as group winners.
Kane’s superbly dispatched spot-kick on the stroke of half-time doubled England’s advantage following Rice’s opener, and established him as the all-time record scorer – surpassing the 53 goals that Wayne Rooney managed during his 15-year-long international career.
But the big question now is whether the Tottenham Hotspur man can follow-up his international exploits by becoming the record Premier League goalscorer too?
Well, we have priced the 29-year-old up at 8/15 to better Alan Shearer’s record tally of 260 and make him the 13/5 favourite to open the scoring in Sunday’s qualifier against Ukraine at Wembley Stadium - a fixture that Jude Bellingham will be hoping to shine in once more after impressing in Napoli.
The Borussia Dortmund maestro is one of the most in-demand players on the planet, and with a plethora of European heavyweights, including Real Madrid (7/4), expecting to be courting his signature during the summer, we've got a market on site looking at where he could be plying his trade come the start of the 2023/24 campaign.
