Michael Conlan v Jordan Gill Tips
This week in Belfast we see the return of Irish superstar Michael Conlan against Jordan Gill at super-featherweight.
The last time we saw Conlan in the ring it didn't quite go his way, getting stopped in four rounds by Luis Alberto Lopez, the IBF featherweight champion.
He comes back here against Jordan Gill, who is in his own right a former European champion and not the easiest test for Conlan, but I do think this favours Conlan's skillset.
With that slick, switch-hitting early in the fight, I do expect him to be very, very sharp. Potentially against the grain, I am going to pick Conlan early in this fight and in rounds 1-6, which is boosted to 3/1 on bet365.
I just think that at this stage of Gill's career, he is going to struggle with the speed and with the southpaw style of Conlan.
As we saw with Conlan's bout with Leigh Wood, he is very dangerous early on in the fight. He sets his shots up nicely to head and body and I do expect Gill to suffer in those early rounds.
Conlan is not the biggest puncher down at featherweight or indeed super-bantamweight. So up at super-featherweight, I don't expect him to be the most concussive of punchers, which is why 2/1 on Conlan to win by Decision is a price I will be looking at if I fancy the fight to go the distance.
But for me, I do like that sharpness of Conlan and my pick is Conlan between rounds 1-6.
