Former super-middleweight world champion George Groves sat down with bet365's Adam Catterall to discuss the long-awaited rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank Jr at the AO Arena in Manchester.
Groves, who defeated Eubank Jr in the World Boxing Super Series super-middleweight semi-final back in 2018, felt his former opponent appeared off-colour in his opening bout with Smith at the start of the year and that the outcome could be different this time around should his preparations go better.
"If Eubank can make weight better than he seemed to last time and is in better shape and more of a solid specimen in there, then it could be a vastly different fight," Groves said.
With the experienced Smith disrupting the rhythm of Eubank Jr in stark fashion in the first meeting of the two fighters, Groves believes it could be wise for the latter to look to ease his way into the rematch.
"Smith is a wily old pro who has been around a long time, he knows his stuff.
"Eubank has got to allow himself to settle into his groove. Whether that be by using sharp feints, landing a big shot or even just moving around and manipulating his feet," he said.
Groves also outlined his belief that Smith would deserve a world title shot should the Liverpudlian overcome Eubank Jr for the second time at the AO Arena.
"If Smith wins, I definitely think he should get a world title shot off the back of this.
"He's a former world champion and he appreciates the belts," Groves said.
