Croatia looked to have done enough after finding a way to turn the game on its head during a breath-taking second half, but right at the death, when it appeared as though all hope was lost, Albania salvage a point.
Take a bow Enea Mihaj, a central defender who showcased world class credentials at the opposite end of the pitch with a last-gasp equaliser.
Germany v Hungary is coming up at 5pm, and then, if you fancy putting yourself through a bit more drama, Scotland and Switzerland lock-horns a few hours later.
Don't disappoint us now boys.
Croatia are crushed; Albania have dug as deep as you could ever imagine to pull themselves back on level terms.
What a moment for Mihaj, who displays incredible composure to drill the free ball into the bottom corner of the net.

Livakovic saves superbly down to his right to deny Hoxha, and just as Bajrami tries to steer home the rebound, the 'keeper does just enough to put him off.

For what it's worth, Budimir is 6/1 to score at anytime after his introduction.
Another good chance for Albania on the counter attack, as Bajrami - who netted against Italy last time out - manoeuvres space for himself to pull the trigger from a similar angle to which he scored, but this time slices wide.
Another big warning sign for Croatia there though, but they are at the stage of the game where they have to keep taking risks.

If they can get that equaliser in the next 15 or 20 minutes, then it will be interesting to see how Albania deal with that.

Tottenham's Ivan Perisic winds up a long throw and launches it into the penalty box, but it's dealt with superbly by Strakosha in the Albania goal.
You can already see that Croatia are going to look to pull the Albanian backline out wide a little more, to try and free the men in the middle.
And that was evident a few seconds ago as Sucic finds space inside the penalty area to fire the ball goal-wards, only for his effort to be superbly saved by Strakosha.
This is going to be an enthralling second half.
Unexpectedly, Croatia are straight on the front-foot, working the ball well through the middle of the pitch as they look to get Modric pulling the strings early on.
The Real Madrid man has had plenty of the ball, but the movement around him just hasn't been there.
He needs his front players to disrupt the up to yet water-tight Albanian backline to enable him to exploit those gaps.

Well, who would have predicted this?
I am sure a few of you might have done, but my word, the expectation was that Croatia would come out all guns blazing after being beaten so comprehensively by Spain on matchday one.
But it's Albania who are half way to what would be one of, if not the, biggest victory in their history.
And in fairness, the 1-0 lead probably doesn't do them justice.
There were numerous opportunities to add to Laci's 11th minute opener, with Asslani and Manaj squandering when through on goal.
Either way, Albania, the underdogs, are leading Croatia at the break in Hamburg.
Could we be on the verge of seeing the first European heavyweight being dumped out of the competition - possibly so!
A combined 810 caps on the field for Croatia, but the problem for them is that none of those players will have come up against this Albania side before.
They have been dogged, resolute and dangerous when moving forward.
What will Dalic have up his sleeve at the break, because he is going to have to switch things around and alter his side's game-plan.
He looks far from pleased with what he has seen over the past 43 minutes.

Albania will be delighted with how things are playing out in Hamburg.
I keep harping on about this counter-attack, but again, the underdogs miss an opportunity to threaten the Croatian goal after picking the ball up inside the middle third of the pitch.
A little more care and attention with that final ball and Albania will score again.
The Croatian manager, Zlatko Dalic, is incandescent on the sideline, as he pleads with his backline to maintain its shape.

Modric tries to force a needless ball through the middle, Albania pick the ball up and break with real intent, but after being freed on goal, Kristjan Asllani watches in anguish as Dominik Livaković saves down to his right.
Croatia have got to do something about these counter-attacks.
They are far too open.
It's interesting to see how Albania deal with their lead, having been in a similar position against Italy a few days ago.
They are most definitely having more opportunities on the break today, sitting with a low block and looking to spring attacks, whereas against the Azzurri, they were more concerned with just sitting deep and trying to stop their opponents from scoring.
Croatia are bossing the possession stats, but as I have said several times already, Albania are lively on the break.
Petkovic wastes a good opportunity to pull Croatia back on level terms, lofting his header over the bar from seven-yards.
He should really have hit the target there, but Croatia will be enthused by the way in which they are progressing the ball into the final third.

As most of the games in the competition have been, this has been a frenetic first 25 minutes or so.
Croatia are knocking on the door with Modric orchestrating things from his attacking midfield role, but Albania are a real threat on the break.
They just haven't been able to get that final ball right on the past couple of occasions they have managed to dispossess their opponents.
Croatia are playing a dangerous game here, given the circumstances.
So, what has that early Albania goal done in the outright betting for this match?
Well, Croatia remain favourites to win - just about - at 7/5 with Albania - the second lowest ranked team in the competition - priced at 15/8 .

Croatia are going to have to utilise all of their vast experience to pull themselves out of this hole.

Albania have wind in their sails, and the atmosphere inside the stadium is electric.
A penalty appeal is waved away - albeit half-heartedly - as a couple of corners come to nothing.

The keeper will feel he should have done better with that.
You can already see the pattern of the game being established here, with Croatia on the front foot, utilising the big frame of Bruno Petkovic up front, and they are looking to get the ball out wide and work the ball into the big man.
They were pretty toothless against Italy on Saturday, firing a blank despite an xG of almost 2.5 - they need to show a bit more composure in front of goal today.
Ivan Perisic and Luka Modoric already making nuisances of themselves, linking well on the left, but the Albanian backline has been able to provide the answers to all of the questions asked.
