William Zepeda gets it on with Mercito Gesta in a lightweight clash on Mexican Independence Day.
Zepeda returns to the ring after scoring a spectacular second-round knockout victory over Jaime Arboleda in April and has won all of his 28 professional contests.
Gesta was last seen beating Joseph Diaz by split-decision in March and the 35-year-old will need more if he is to upset the undefeated Mexican.
Here is everything you need to know ahead of the California clash.
What | William Zepeda v Mercito Gesta |
Where | The Commerce Casino & Hotel, California |
When | Sunday 17th September, 2023 |

Scheduled to take place on Mexican Independence Day in the US, the time difference means that the fight will take place in the early hours of Sunday 17th September in the UK.
The main card is expected to start at midnight UK time on Sunday 17th September. The feature event between Zapeda and Gesta is scheduled for 04:00.
Exact times will depend on the duration of previous undercard bouts.
The bout will be staged in Commerce, California at the Commerce Casino & Hotel. Established in 1983, the Commerce Casino & Hotel boasts the largest card room in the world with 240 tables on site.
The venue has staged many boxing and MMA events in the past and the casino and 200-room hotel underwent a major refurbishment in 2001.
The city of Commerce has a population of just over 12,000 people and its location on the outskirts of Los Angeles means there is likely to be plenty of support for Zepeda from the crowd.
The fight will be shown live on subscription streaming service DAZN. The bout will be available in over 200 countries and can be viewed on a myriad of devices.
There are no belts on the line in California but Zepeda is building up to a world title shot.
The Mexican is unbeaten in 28 professional contests and he is ranked as number seven on the Ring's lightweight list.
Zepeda is also highly-rated by many of the major governing bodies and a victory in Commerce will move the Mexican another step closer to a major title.
Zepeda is a serious lightweight contender and has won all of his 28 professional contests. The majority of the 27-year-old's victories have come in low-key bouts in his native Mexico, but he did travel to America to beat Joseph Diaz in a high-level contest in 2022.
The Mexican scored a stunning second-round knockout victory over Arboleda last time out and has seen 24 of his 28 victories come by stoppage.
Rene Alvarado, Diaz and Arboleda give some substance to the form of the heavy-hitting lightweight and Zepeda looks destined for big things.
Gesta is an experienced campaigner and the 35-year-old has racked up 40 career fights. The Filipino has won 34 bouts, lost three and drawn three in a prolonged career and is a two-time world title challenger.
Gesta recorded a good victory over Diaz in March and that suggests that a fair amount of ability remains in the veteran's gloves.
In the co-main event, Victor Morales (18-0-1, 9 KOs) will take on Edwin Palomares.
