The battle for the 2024 World Rally Championship title is set to go down to the wire with Thierry Neuville aiming to become Belgium's first world rally champion.

Having finished runner-up in five separate seasons, the Hyundai driver requires only six points in Japan to finally break his championship duck.

Toyota's Ott Tanak will be out to spoil Neuville's party and the 2019 champion, who is 25 points adrift of the Belgian heading into the concluding race, knows only his third victory of the season will suffice if he is to have any chance of winning the title.

Though he's not in the championship picture, Elfyn Evans will be aiming to finish the campaign strongly and the Welshman was triumphant in Nagoya last year.

Takamoto Katsuta enjoyed his best result of 2024 in the Central European Rally and the Toyota driver is eyeing another strong performance in his home race.
