Keith Deller looks ahead to Michael Smith v Chris Dobey at the World Matchplay on Wednesday evening and explains where he feels the betting value can be found.
Michael Smith v Chris Dobey
Wednesday 17th July (22:15)
What a cracking game this promises to be!
Michael Smith, as we all know, is one of the finest players on the planet, and Chris Dobey, for me, is one of the most consistent TV performers on the tour.
He was so unfortunate not to have been included in the Premier League this year, and he will be desperate to notch a big TV victory between now and the end of the year to secure himself a spot in the 2025 line-up.
This is a game that could go either way; I definitely see this being a tight affair, 11-8 or 11-9 either way, so the 'Over 18.5 Legs' market carries obvious appeal, as does the 11/8 on offer for 'Over 13.5 180s'.
Michael and Chris are capable of absolutely pummelling that treble 20 bed - there were 11 180s in 'Bully Boy's' victory over Gary Anderson and nine in Dobey's victory over Richie Edhouse.
Both of these two are fast players and they will bounce of each other, so don't be surprised to see them trading blows with big scores throughout the encounter.
Dobey, as I mentioned earlier, is one of the most consistent players in the PDC now, he regularly hits averages in the upper 90s, and I will be backing him to come in with a three-dart average in excess of 96.5 on Wednesday night.
Odds will display when markets are live.
