With this summer's tournament well underway, we've take a look back at the top goalscorers from the 1998 World Cup in France.
Much like the 2026 edition, 1998 represented the expansion of the tournament, with 32 teams travelling to France - including four nations that had qualified for the first time, Croatia, Jamaica, Japan and South Korea.
In their very first appearance at the tournament Croatia proved to be the ultimate surprise package, exceeding expectations by progressing from Group H with two wins from their opening two matches.
After edging past a strong Romania team in the round of 16, Croatia delivered one of the biggest shocks in World Cup history when they defeated Germany 3-0 in Lyon to claim a place in the final four.
After taking the lead early in the second-half Miroslav Blazevic's side would ultimately be defeated by the hosts and eventual winners, before beating the Netherlands to claim third place.
In every game that they won at the tournament Real Madrid forward Davor Suker managed to find the net, with his six goals from seven appearances enough to see him collect the World Cup Golden Boot.
His tally surpassed some of the most iconic names in the sport during that period, including the likes of Thierry Henry, Ronaldo and Gabriel Batistuta.
But who else makes up the list of top ten goalscorers at the 1998 World Cup? Read on to find out.
