Emma Finucane has been one of Team GB's stars of the Olympics and is the favourite to end a memorable Games by winning gold in the track sprint on Sunday in Paris.
The 21-year-old helped inspire the women's sprint team to a glorious gold alongside Katy Marchant and Sophie Capewell as they incredibly produced three world record times, including in the final where they beat New Zealand in scintillating style.
Finucane then followed up her team gold with an individual bronze in the keirin - an event she professed is not her strongest - after finishing behind winner Ellesse Andrews of New Zealand and Dutch silver medallist Hetty van de Wouw.
Born in Carmarthen, Finucane is now seeking to emulate Laura Kenny and win two Olympic cycling gold medals in a single Games.
A winner of the women’s individual sprint title at the last World Championships in Scotland, FInucane was in irresistible form at this year’s European Championships, adding another sprint crown to her collection.
She began her final event as the number one ranked sprint rider and has cruised into Sunday's semi-finals, where she will race keirin gold medallist Ellesse Andrews from New Zealand.
If successful, the Brit will race either Lea Friedrich or Hetty Van de Wouw in the final as she attempts to make history in Paris.
