Wolves v Sheffield United: Tips, Predictions and Odds

Two sides with vastly different prospects come head to head at Molineux as relegation-threatened Sheffield United travel to the Midlands to face Wolves, who are an outside shout for a European spot.

Gary O’Neils men managed to claim all three points from their trip to Tottenham last weekend and another victory today could see his side level with seventh on goal difference providing results go their way.

The Blades meanwhile were brought crashing back down to Earth after their first league away victory of the season, as Chris Wilder’s side were thrashed 5-0 at home by Brighton.

With Wolves proving to be a thorn in the side of many teams this season, the Midlands outfit should prove more than strong enough to take all three points on Sunday.

Wolves v Sheffield United betting tips and predictions

Wolves to win to nil - 6/4

Despite losing their last two at Molineux, Wolves have looked relatively strong at home, avoiding defeat in each of their eight games here prior to the losses to Manchester United and Brentford.

This run included memorable victories over reigning champions Manchester City and champions league chasing Tottenham, as well as against Burnley and Everton: two of Sheffield United’s relegation rivals.

The victories over the latter two both came accompanied by clean sheets, and another shutout could be expected given that the Blades have picked up just one league victory away from Bramall Lane, as well as possessing the worst attack in the division with just 22 goals scored.

Sheffield United picked up their first victory of the season in the reverse fixture back in November. However, this arrived on the back of a contentious penalty decision, resulting in Oliver Norwood converting from the spot in the 100th minute, and luck has rarely been on the club’s side since then.

Wilder’s men have lost four of their last five in all competitions and, with Sheffield United’s last win here coming in the Championship back in 2002, this form is unlikely to change.

Hwang Hee-chan to score anytime @ 6/4

South Korean forward Hwang has returned at the best possible time to Wolves’ frontline, after Matheus Cunha went off injured with a hamstring problem against Brentford last time out.

The 28-year old has 10 league goals to his name this season as well as three assists and he is likely to be at the forefront of Gary O’Neil’s attack in this encounter. His goal tally is the result of an impressive conversion tally, with these strikes coming from just 12 shots on target.

The hosts have been in free-scoring form at home in recent weeks, scoring at least three goals in three of their last four games at Molineux in all competitions, and so plenty of opportunities should fall Hwang’s way

Gustavo Hamer to be booked @ 5/6

This could be a feisty battle in the middle of the midfield, with five midfielders picking up yellow cards across the last three league games for Wolves and Sheffield United combined.

One man who has had a season rife with ill-discipline is Sheffield’s Gustavo Hamer, with the Dutchman topping the bookings table at the club alongside Jack Robinson, Jayden Bogle and Anel Ahmedhodzic with seven.

The 26-year old has also has committed 30 fouls this campaign, with only Vini Souza committing more at the club, and will likely show no fear in getting stuck in to break the momentum of Wolves.
