After initially being introduced in 1924, a completed version of seeding at Wimbledon was fully implemented three years later in 1927 as players were selected according to their ability. Seeding has been solely based on computer rankings since 1975.
Two men have won Wimbledon without being seeded prior to the tournament. Boris Becker was the first to do so in 1985, then Goran Ivanisevic achieved the feat in 2001.
