Arsenal defender William Saliba is set for a spell on the sidelines after a medical examination revealed the severity of his hamstring injury.
The France international was seen clutching his hamstring following the derby success over Tottenham last Wednesday (15 January) and Saliba missed out on the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Aston Villa.
Jurrien Timber deputised at centre-half alongside Gabriel in his absence, with Thomas Partey slotting in at right-back and Myles Lewis-Skelly retaining his place at left-back.
It's yet another unwanted setback for Mikel Arteta, who is already contending with a whole host of long-term injury absentees including Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.
Saliba's previous absences have been telling with Arsenal winning just 38% of 13 matches without the defensive stalwart, compared to a win percentage of 72% from 85 matches when he's in the side.
Saliba is expected to be out for at least a fortnight.
Arsenal's defensive options were already scarce in light of injuries to Ben White, Riccardo Calafiori and Takehiro Tomiyasu and Saliba's absence has only exacerbated the issue for Arteta.
The Gunners face a key run of fixtures in the next two weeks as they conclude their UEFA Champions League league phase campaign, encounter Newcastle United in the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final and face Manchester City as they attempt to keep their slim Premier League title hopes alive.
