Following six rounds of preliminary and qualifying matches, the FA Cup first round proper takes place this weekend.
Clubs from League One and League Two join the competition and will accompany 32 non-league teams who have advanced through the qualifying rounds to reach this stage.
There is representation from the eighth tier in the first round proper as AFC Rushden & Diamonds of the Northern Premier League Division One Midlands and Stafford Rangers of Northern Premier League Division One West.
Both teams will encounter EFL opposition as AFC Rushden & Diamonds make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium to face Burton Albion of League One, while Stafford will host League Two outfit Grimsby Town at Marston Road.
Seven teams from the seventh tier also feature in the FA Cup first round proper, including Worcester City, Guiseley, Cray Wanderers, Wimborne Town, Sholing, Plymouth Parkway and Berkhamsted, the latter two facing each other in front of the television cameras on Monday night.
Will there be replays in the FA Cup first round?
Replays will not be used in the FA Cup first round, nor will they be used during any full round of the 2026/27 campaign.
Traditionally, FA Cup matches that ended in a draw would result in a replay, where teams that were away from home would receive home advantage against the same opponents to decide the winner of a tie.
However, from the 2024/25 season, replays have been scrapped during the full rounds of the competition.
If a match is tied after 90 minutes, it will go straight to extra time. If the scores are still level by the final whistle in extra time, the fixture will be decided in a penalty shootout.
Although replays have been discarded from the first round proper onward, they remain in place for the qualifying rounds.
