Wigan Athletic host Morecambe on Tuesday evening with both clubs desperately seeking a positive result to breath fresh life into their 2024/25 campaigns.
The Latics have registered just three points from their opening four League One fixtures, whilst Morecambe are rooted to the bottom of League Two having been beaten in all four of their outings this term.
Wigan Athletic v Morecambe in the EFL Trophy will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports+.
Wigan Athletic play host to Morecambe at the Brick Community Stadium on Tuesday 3rd September 2024, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 (BST).
Tuesday night's meeting will be just the third time that the two sides have locked-horns in a competitive match with the Latics boasting a 100 percent record.
The League One side prevailed 4-1 on home soil and 2-1 at the Mazuma Mobile Stadium in the third tier during the 2021/22 campaign, and will hope to extend their winning record in their first ever cup encounter,
Victory on Tuesday would be a welcome tonic for Shaun Maloney's side, having won just one of their four league fixtures this season, with the other three ending in defeat.
Morecambe meanwhile have lost all four of the League Two outings, as well as being dumped out of the EFL Cup in the first round, whilst they have yet to score a solitary goal.
