Why is there no early Premier League game on Sunday?

It's a busy Saturday programme in the Premier League, with eight games scheduled.

Chelsea kick things off on Saturday afternoon when they play host to Manchester United before five 3pms: Bournemouth v Leeds, Brentford v Nottingham Forest, Coventry City v Sunderland, Hull City v Ipswich Town and Manchester City v Brighton.

Tottenham are then in action in the evening game -- once again -- as they take on struggling Crystal Palace before Aston Villa host Fulham on Saturday Night Football.

Liverpool take on Arsenal at Anfield at 16:30 on Sunday with Newcastle in action on Monday night at home to Everton.

But after four early Sunday games last weekend, the slot is conspicuously absence this weekend.

The reason for there being no early game on Sunday afternoon is because of Aston Villa's participation in the UEFA Champions League.

When TV games for this round of fixtures were decided back in August, Sky Sports selected Villa's clash with Fulham, initially scheduled to be the early Sunday game.

But with Villa in UEFA Champions League action on Tuesday, their game has been brought forward to Saturday night.
