The spine-tingling rendition of Abide With Me at the FA Cup Final unites football fans every year.
The hymn is steeped in FA Cup history and like the National Anthem before kick-off, it is synonymous with the showpiece occasion.
This year's final will see Abide With Me sung by up-and-coming singer Sinead Ashiokai.
Continue reading below for details of the Abide With Me lyrics, where the hymn originates from and a list of the singers who have recently sung at the FA Cup Final.
Abide With Me was written by Scottish Anglican cleric Henry Francis Lyte.
The Christian Hymn serves as a prayer for God to remain present with the speaker during life and death.
The words were penned in 1847 whilst Lyte was seriously ill with tuberculosis and the hymn was sung for the first time at his funeral.
Abide With Me was first sung at the FA Cup Final in 1927.
The match itself saw Cardiff City defeat Arsenal by a single goal.
Organisers have continued the tradition ever since in an attempt to bring all supporters together in unison prior to kick-off.
Abide with me, fast falls the eventide
The darkness deepens Lord, with me abide
When other helpers fail and comforts flee
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me
Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day
Earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away
Change and decay in all around I see
O Thou who changest not, abide with me
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless
Ills have no weight, and tears no bitterness
Where is death's sting?
Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still, if Thou abide with me
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee
In life, in death, o Lord, abide with me
Abide with me, abide with me
