We look at the story of British tennis player Oliver Tarvet after the world number 719 makes history by reaching the second round of Wimbledon.
In the standout result of day one at Wimbledon 2025, Oliver Tarvet has shocked the tennis world by not only qualifying for his first ever Grand Slam, but reaching the second round at SW19.
Born on 29th October 2003, Oliver Tarvet is 21 years old.
Ahead of the tournament, Oliver Tarvet was ranked world number 719 in the ATP rankings.
After successfully coming through Wimbledon qualifying, this is in fact the first ever Grand Slam Oliver Tarvet has played in.
Oliver Tarvet will play the winner of Fabio Fognini v Carlos Alcaraz in the second round of Wimbledon on Wednesday 2nd July.
This could offer a battle between the world number two and the world number 719, which would be one of the biggest mismatches in Wimbledon history when it comes to world rankings.
After making it through to the second round at Wimbledon, Oliver Tarvet should be eligible for £99,000 ($135,566) in prize money.
However, due to his status as a US Student Athlete, under NCAA rules, he is forbidden from making more than a $10,000 profit.
Therefore, the $125,000 left over will need to be either written off as expenses or returned to the All England Club.
