Who is Big John’s son?

Johnny Fisher

Known as 'The Romford Bull', Johnny Fisher is a talented heavyweight, currently fighting under Eddie Hearn's Matchroom banner.

The 26-year-old, at the time of writing, possesses an unbeaten professional record, winning all 13 of his bouts comprehensively - with 11 of those wins coming inside the scheduled distance.

For long parts of his childhood, Fisher combined his love of boxing with another sporting interest of his, rugby, before opting to pursue a career in the sweet science during his late teens.

Following Joe Joyce's somewhat unconventional white-collar route into the sport, Fisher only undertook 10 amateur bouts before turning professional, winning three of those inside the first round.

The fighter also established a close friendship with the 2016 Olympic silver medalist having sparred with him in the build-up to his showdown with Daniel Dubois.

Since then, he has stepped out of Joyce's shadow to establish himself as a boxing pull in his own right, securing victories over the likes of Alen Babic and Dave Allen.

Does Big John have any more family members?

'Big John' Fisher is married to childhood sweetheart Charlotte, with the couple parenting four children.

Along with professional boxer John Fisher, 'Big John' is also the father of Will Fisher, Henry Fisher and Hetty Fisher, all of whom frequently feature in his viral social media video posts.

Was Big John a boxer?

Despite boasting an intimidating giant frame, 'Big John' Fisher has never fought competitively, although has, in the past, hinted at featuring in charity boxing bouts.

An apparent 'Battle of the Big Johns' was banded about a couple of years ago, with Tyson Fury's father 'Big John' Fury rumoured to have been open to a fight, although the showdown failed to materialise.

'Big John' Fisher is seemingly far more at ease putting his hands on pints and chinese food than he is on other people however, with his fun, friendly and warm nature helping to endear him into the hearts of many of boxing's biggest named fighters and pundits.

How did Big John become famous?

'Big John' Fisher has risen to prominence through his vast social media presence, often posting videos on Instagram and TikTok, many of which go viral.

His Instagram account, @itsbigjohn1, refers to him as a "food consultant" as well as "Leader of the Romford Bull Army".

'Big John' first burst onto the scene thanks to his outlandish chinese food order, which has been viewed across social media millions of times, with sporting personalities, film stars and influencers all having previously reposted his videos.

In fact, such is his popularity, 'Big John' Fisher launched a series entitled "Gogglebosh", which was a behind the scenes look at his life and family, whilst he also stars in 'The Big John Chinese Sit Down', where he speaks in-depth and at length with other big name personalities.

World championship winning boxers, professional footballers, TV stars and celebrity chefs have all featured in the series, which is shown on his official YouTube channel, 'BoshTV'.

'Big John' Fisher also now regularly undertakes worldwide tours, meeting fans at specially arranged meet and greets.

What is Big John’s catchphrase?

Bosh

As many will already know, 'Big John' Fisher signs off all of his videos with the catchphrase, 'BOSH'.

Whilst the word is considered to mean 'nonsense' or 'absurd' by the dictionary, 'Big John's' use of it means something far different - instead using the phrase to punctuate an opinion or to indicate that something needs to be done.

He also uses the catchphrase just as he is about to tuck into his fabled chinese takeaway, typically indicating his excitement at indulging in his favoured cuisine.

His use of the word stems from his love of 80s/90s comedy duo Hale and Pace - the original bosh men, who used the term frequently in their sketches.

Big John quotes

About Johnny Fisher’s win over Dave Allen

In the immediate aftermath of Johnny Fisher's heavyweight contest with domestic rival Dave Allen in December, 2024, 'Big John' Fisher actually spoke of his belief that Allen had done enough to edge victory, despite his son being awarded a narrow split decision success on the cards.

He told Allen, just minutes after the fight: "Listen, I thought you edged it - I thought you just edged it, but he showed heart and courage."

However, after watching the fight back, 'Big John' altered his opinion, suggested there were 'understandable reasons' for two of the three ringside judges scoring the bout in his son's favour.

About Gareth A. Davies

'Big John' Fisher launched a fierce rant at esteemed boxing broadcaster Gareth A Davies after calling out his son's (Johnny Fisher) controversial points victory over Dave Allen on the undercard of Oleksandr Usyk v Tyson Fury 2 in December, 2024.

He told iFL TV: "I totally respect anyone's opinion who thought Dave won the fight, but the way you and Spencer (Oliver) went over the top!

"I thought you were a serious journalist - you showed how incapable you are of actually reporting on a proper fight.

"I watched it back. He won rounds one to four, won round 10 and round seven you could have called it for Johnny, so, for you to say it was a robbery is disgusting.

"You were welcome in my house before, but you'll never be welcome in my house again because you acted like an utter complete disgrace and I'll tell you to your face because I'm a man. I'm not holding back.

"Anyone can say they think Dave won the fight... Dave's team themselves said it wasn't a robbery and you're shouting out things like that."
