The new three-week international window is set to have a major impact on the scheduling of League One fixtures at the end of September into the start of October.
The extended 16-day break was approved by the FIFA Council, and while it does mean we will have two weeks of international football to contend with, the prolonged window has resulted in the removal of the singular October break, which provides an extra week of domestic football in the calendar.
In England, divisions from League One and below have games scheduled to take place during the international window. However, with an increasing number of individuals being selected for international duty in the third tier, several League One fixtures are being postponed.
EFL clubs are permitted to request a postponement if least three of players have been selected for their country's senior, under-21, under-20 or under-19 sides.
A total of 11 matches have so far been postponed in League One.
Six matches which were scheduled to be played on Saturday 26th September will have a new date, while a further five matches which were pencilled in for Saturday 3rd October will also be moved.
Notts County, Blackpool, Luton Town, Barnsley, Leicester City, Doncaster Rovers and Stevenage have confirmed both of their fixtures during the international window have been postponed.
A further eight clubs - Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, Wigan Athletic, Oxford United, Sheffield Wednesday, Peterborough United, MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon - have one match postponed during the break.
