The Premier League has become a highlight of the darting calendar and the 2025 edition is set to be its most fascinating staging yet.
The PDC pulled off a masterstroke last year with the inclusion of Luke Littler, who continued to captivate audiences with a series of breathtaking performances before going on to win the whole tournament on debut in May.
Littler will be one of four players to receive automatic entry this year due to his Order of Merit ranking and the PDC have some difficult decisions to make on the other four players that will feature on the annual roadshow.
The PDC will officially announce the line-up for the 2025 Premier League Darts on Monday 6th January at 4:30pm, upon conclusion of the World Darts Championship.
Last year, the line-up was unveiled the day after the World Darts Championship final, whereas the year prior the full list of players wasn't revealed until completion of The Masters at the end of January.
The top four in the PDC's Order of Merit receive automatic entry into the Premier League, which means Littler, Luke Humphries, Michael van Gerwen and Rob Cross will all feature.
A run to the quarter-finals of the World Darts Championship has thrust Gerwyn Price back into Premier League contention following a disappointing few months by his previously high standards.
Another figure to excel at the Alexandra Palace was Stephen Bunting and his soaring popularity, coupled with his impressive form, makes "The Bullet" a likely candidate to feature in the Premier League for the first time since 2015.
Suffering a second round defeat at the Worlds which has resulted in him tumbling down the rankings, Michael Smith does still have plenty of credit in the bank despite an underwhelming sequence of results, with "Bully Boy" reaching the play-offs last time out.
Other contenders include Nathan Aspinall, Chris Dobey and Peter Wright, with the latter defying expectations and recapturing his best form to reach the latter stages of the World Darts Championship.
A potential wildcard is Damon Heta, though the charismatic Australian may have needed more than a nine-dart finish at Ally Pally to convince the PDC hierarchy of his inclusion.
