Estudiantes de La Plata booked their place in the Copa Libertadores final with a dramatic penalty shootout triumph over holders Flamengo.
Goalkeeper Fernando Muslera was the hero for the Argentinian side as he saved penalty attempts from Jorginho, Lucas Paquetá, and Bruno Henrique to lead Estudiantes to a 3-2 shootout victory.
Estudiantes' success was made all the more sweeter given they had to play the final 40 minutes of the second leg with 10 men after Baltasar Rodríguez was sent off, but Alexander Medina's were able to thwart Flamengo before taking the tie to penalties.
Pursuing their fifth Copa Libertadores title, Estudiantes will now face Palmeiras in the final, who last won South America's premier club competition back in 2021 as they went back-to-back.
Palmeiras conquered Fluminense 5-3 on penalties after a tense semi-final second leg in São Paulo.
Estuadiantes will be looking to break the seven-year streak of Brazilian teams winning the Copa Libertadores, with the last non-Brazilian team to win the competition being River Plate as they conquered Boca Juniors in an all-Argentine final in 2018.
The 2026 Copa Libertadores final will take place on Saturday 28th November.
The match will be played at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Uruguay.
