It's been quite the start to first team management for Tonda Eckert, taking Southampton to new heights since succeeding Will Still in November 2025.
The Saints endured a miserable start to the season under the stewardship of the highly-rated Englishman, winning just two of their opening 13 games before the club pulled the plug on Still's tenure after a 2-0 defeat to Preston North End.
Eckert has inspired a new lease of life at St Mary's since arriving however, taking Southampton from 21st to fourth in the Championship standings and guiding the club to an FA Cup semi-final with wins over Doncaster, Leicester City, Fulham and, most impressively, Premier League leaders Arsenal.
The Saints enjoyed four consecutive wins upon Eckert's appointment, but they've since eclipsed that tally with a terrific 19-game unbeaten run in the league to comfortably secure a play-off berth.
Southampton last lost a league game on 17th January 2026, falling to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Hull City.
Since their home defeat to Sergej Jakirovic's side, their 19-game unbeaten run has consisted of 14 wins and five draws - meaning they boast plenty of momentum ahead of their two-legged play-off semi-final against Middlesbrough.
Manchester City did edge them out 2-1 at Wembley in last month's FA Cup semi-final however, but in terms of the league, no side since the Tigers well over four months ago have been able to overcome them.
