With Manchester United resurgent under Michael Carrick, we've taken a look at the last time the club won five games in a row.
The Red Devils are now closing in on five straight Premier League wins to start Carrick's tenure after defeating Tottenham Hotspur to clinch a fourth successive victory.
Carrick has been keen to stress, perhaps wisely, that it's still one game at a time, but a trip to West Ham is all that stands in the way of five consecutive wins, with one fan in particular desperate for Red Devils victory at the London Stadium. United have been Super Boosted to 6/4 to win on Tuesday night and, at least temporarily, leapfrog Aston Villa in third.
United supporter Frank Ilett made the vow to not cut his hair until his club won five games in a row in October 2024, and the side’s turn in fortunes presumably has his barber with pound signs in his eyes.
United last won four Premier League games in February 2024 when they beat Wolves, West Ham, Aston Villa and Luton. The last time they won five on the bounce was in January 2023 after beating Manchester City 2-1 under Erik ten Hag, with fans fleetingly dreaming of a title push.
The most optimistic fans might have been casting glances at the league table after an upturn in form, wondering if 12 points is too big a gap to close, but the more realistic goal of UEFA Champions League football is very much back on the table, as are Frank Ilett's hopes of getting his hair cut.
