According to reports, West Bromwich Albion are targeting a loan move for Aston Villa midfielder George Hemmings.
The 19 year-old has impressed the Aston VIlla coaching staff in training with the first team and has featured in both of Villa's pre season games to date, scoring in their 5-0 win over Walsall.
Likened to fellow Aston Villa academy graduate Jacob Ramsey, Hemmings is seen as a long term option as a wide attacking midfielder for the Villans, though he has played mostly box-to-box so far for the youth teams.
Hemmings joined Aston Villa's youth system in 2023, having initially come through the ranks at fellow Midlands side Nottingham Forest.
Despite some reports suggesting that Aston Villa are considering keeping Hemmings around the first team this season, Steve Tudgay via Full Throstle has claimed that West Bromwich Albion are interested in a loan move for the 19 year-old.
The reports have mentioned that while the Villans are unwilling to sanction a permanent exit for the England youth international, a loan move to the Championship could be possible.
So far, Hemmings has had little in the way of senior appearances, featuring just four times for Aston Villa's first team, across the UEFA Europa League and the Premier League.
With the changes and injuries in Villa's midfield, Unai Emery could yet decide to keep the young prodegy around for the new season, as they continue to navigate UEFA financial restrictions.
Should Hemmings make the move to the Hawthorns, he would become the third player in as many seasons to move temporarily from the Villans to the Baggies, after Samuel Iling-Junior and Jamaldeen Jimoh-Aloba.
