Super League week 10 preview: Warrington face major St Helens test

Week 10 in Super League is on the horizon and there's an intriguing battle to get us underway on Thursday evening, as St Helens host Warrington Wolves.

It’s a clash that will draw the eye of many, as the four-time reigning Super League champions face the early frontrunners this season.

Warrington Wolves have made a strong start to the season, but they will see their potential title credentials put to the test when they head to the home of the champions St Helens.

Winning eight of their opening nine games, the Wolves have hit the ground running this year and have made great progress under head coach Daryl Powell.

Saints have endured a tough start, with their World Club Challenge-winning endeavours seemingly hindering their domestic progress so far.

Still a quality side of course, Saints will be determined to put Warrington in their place, with the hosts the 4/7 favourites to win on home turf.

Castleford Tigers have had a tough start to the season and it won’t get any easier against Hull KR.

The Robins have been one of the surprise packages of the season so far, with six wins from their first nine outings of the campaign.

With that in mind, it’s no surprise to see KR favourites at 8/15 to beat a Cas side who have managed to score just 96 points in their first nine games of the season.

It has been a bit of a stop-start beginning to the season for the Leeds Rhinos, but they will be determined to make it three wins on the bounce with victory over Leigh Leopards on Friday evening.

Leeds have impressed with wins over St Helens and Catalans Dragons this season, but they have also produced some disappointing performances against the likes of Castleford and Hull KR.

Head coach Rohan Smith is looking for some more consistency from his side and back-to-back wins over Huddersfield Giants and Hull FC have moved the Rhinos in the right direction.

Leeds are 8/11 to win on the road on Friday night against a Leigh side who are still feeling their way into life back in Super League with a new-look squad.

Catalans Dragons have been hit and miss on their travels this season and will get a good test when they face Salford Red Devils at the AJ Bell Stadium.

Two of Catalans’ defeats this year have come on the road, with losses at both Leeds and Huddersfield last time out.

The Dragons will be looking for a response and are well priced at 13/10 to come away from Manchester with the win this weekend.

In what could well be the most one-sided games of the week, Wakefield Trinity make the daunting trip to Wigan Warriors on Sunday.

Trinity are the only team left in the Super League without a win this season and their first victory is unlikely to come this weekend.

Wakefield have been handed a generous Handicap for this one, with Trinity at 10/11 with a +30 head start.

Sunday afternoon also sees Hull FC host Huddersfield Giants in an encounter at the MKM Stadium.

The Airlie Birds are struggling with just two wins so far this season and Huddersfield are 10/11 to win with a -10.5 Handicap this weekend.
