Melbourne Victory kept alive their hopes of winning the minor premiership following a dramatic win over the Newcastle Jets on Saturday.
Victory are chasing the minor premiership and look to be in with a real shout after extending their unbeaten run to 11 games.
Victory got the game off to a great start when Nick D’Agostino put them in front after just six minutes but the Jets managed to hang in there for the rest of the half.
The game exploded after the break with both sides hitting the woodwork on two occasions before the Jets levelled matters on 65 minutes through Savvas Siatravanis.
Franceso Margiotta popped up to get the winner in stoppage time and continue Victory’s strong end to the season.
They have now won four out of the last five games and are three points behind Western United in second place. They also have two games in hand on leaders Melbourne City and if they can win them both will be just two points behind.
Boss Tony Popovic is targeting the title but says getting it done is easier said than done.
"Everyone would love to hear us say we can win the Premiership if we win all our games, but it's hard enough to win a game on a weekly basis, or in our case every three days," Popovic told reporters after the game.
"It's not easy. No one gives you points here."
