Top British MMA prospect George Staines could soon be UFC bound.
Undefeated across ten fights as a professional, Staines fights out of Next Generation MMA in Liverpool and is one of Paddy Pimblett's main sparring partners.
After a decorated amateur career Staines turned professional in 2023 and made an immediate impact in Czechia-based promotion OKTAGON MMA before signing with Cage Warriors last year.
In the last twelve months the 25-year-old lightweight has recorded four wins in Cage Warriors, with a second-round submission of previously unbeaten Irishman in Conor McCarthy leading to speculation that he could soon join Pimblett in the UFC.
According to a report from MMA Prospect Vault on social media, Staines will feature on Dana White's Contender Series, with a fight date and official announcement expected imminently.
Founded in 2017, the Contender Series has served as the introduction into the UFC of some of the biggest stars on the current roster, including the likes of Sean O'Malley, Jamahal Hill and Quillan Salkilld.
Held on Tuesday nights over the course of 10 weeks, up-and-coming prospects face off at the Meta Apex, with select fighters then offered a UFC contract.
Staines is no stranger to fighting with big stakes on the line, having being crowned champion of OKTAGON's £25,000 challenge in 2024.
The Hull-born fighter has won three of his professional fights by submission, one by knockout and the rest on the judges' scorecards.
