'Unbelievable' Jack Grealish set to leave this summer

Pep Guardiola has admitted that Jack Grealish could leave this summer after Man City's club record signing did not travel with the squad for their match against Fulham.

Jack Grealish Next Club

Grealish signed from Aston Villa in 2021 for a British record £100m but has found himself out of favour across his last two years at the Etihad.

Man City ended their 2024/25 Premier League campaign needing a result at Fulham to secure UEFA Champions League qualification but Grealish was left out of the squad by manager Pep Guardiola.

I’m the one who said: ‘I want Jack Grealish’.

Guardiola was typically animated when discussing the future of the 29-year-old winger.

The Spaniard hit back at reporters who suggested that he was unhappy with Grealish and made clear that his omission from the matchday squad was not 'personal'.

“It was selection,” said Guardiola. “Of course Jack has to play. He’s an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days.

“It didn’t happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it, and that’s with us, or another place. And that’s a question for Jack, his agent, and the club.

“It’s not personal. I have 24 players, I have to get rid of six players for the last game and five today because (Mateo) Kovacic got sent off.

“I’m the person who fought for Jack to come here, and the person who fought for him to stay here this season and the next season. I’m the one who said: ‘I want Jack Grealish’."

A key part of the treble-winning campaign in 2022/23 - Grealish has seen his playing time significantly reduced in recent times.

Just seven Premier League starts have come the way of the England international representing his lowest tally since 2014/15.

City did secure a spot in the UEFA Champions League for next season with a comfortable 2-0 win at Craven Cottage.

Ilkay Gundogan and Erling Haaland got themselves on the scoresheet to give Manchester City a positive ending to what has been a tumultuous campaign.

Haaland previously described City's season as 'horrific' and 'boring' with his side finishing 13 points adrift of champions Liverpool.

Alongside Grealish, there were other recognised first team players not selected in their Premier League finale.

Rico Lewis and James McAtee were also absent with Pep Guardiola threatening to 'quit' if his squad size is not reduced during the summer.
