UK Open Darts Final: Dimitri van den Bergh v Luke Humphries tips, predictions & odds

1983 World Darts Champion Keith Deller MBE delivers his tips for the final of the 2024 UK Open as Dimitri van den Bergh and Luke Humphries collide at Butlins, Minehead.

UK Open Darts - Final tips & predictions

Dimitri van den Bergh v Luke Humphries
Sunday 3rd March (21:15)

Over 17.5 Legs @ 11/10
Bullseye finish in any leg @ 1/1
Over 10.5 180s in the match @ 11/10

So, it's the final of the UK Open and we are guaranteed a new name on the trophy!

Luke Humphries has been cruising today, and he's looking every bit the player that captured the World Darts Championship in January.

He didn't even hit second gear in his straightforward win over Ricky Evans in the semi-final, but he will be scoring heavier and finishing even better in the final, I feel.

Dimitri van den Bergh has had a wonderful few days; he will take huge confidence from reaching his first final in quite some time, but I just don't see him adding the UK Open title to his World Matchplay crown.

There are a lot of plays to look at in this game - Luke Humphries will score the most 180s, he will have the higher three-dart average and I believe he will capture the title.

You may want to look at Humphries on the handicap, but for me, I think we will see the game just about reach 18 legs and I am fancying one of the two players to take out a bullseye finish. I also like the look of 11 or more maximums being scored.

It's been a superb three days of action down in Minehead, and I am backing Humphries to end the tournament in style and add the UK Open crown to his ever-growing tally of titles.

Dimitri van den Bergh v Damon Heta
Sunday 3rd March (19:00)

Over 17.5 Legs @ 4/9
Bullseye Finish in any Leg @ 1/1
Dimitri van den Bergh - Over 93.5 average @ 10/11

First of all, Damon Heta... what a performance that was against Luke Littler in the quarter-final!

Absolutely sensational stuff from the Australian, who stunned 'The Nuke' with arguably the performance of the tournament to date!

The standard of darts he has thrown in the last couple of matches has been incredible, and whilst Dimitri van den Bergh's averages haven't been anywhere near as impressive, I do actually think we see a tight contest in the first semi of the night.

The two players are close friends, they used to share a house and there will be that edge to this - Dimitri knows he has got to play his very best stuff if he is to have a chance.

Because of that, I sense this one going in excess of 17 legs, whilst I am also expecting Dimitri to throw well, so an average over 93.5 at odds of 10/11 looks very appealing.

I have also thrown a bullseye finish in the mix, in any leg, because there will be chances to take it out - it's just whether one of them is tuned in enough to do that.

I feel that we will see a bullseye taken out, so at even-money, I think it's a very good bet.

Luke Humphries v Ricky Evans
Sunday 3rd march (20:15)

Under 17.5 Legs @ 4/6
Over 10.5 180s @ 1/1
Luke Humphries - Under 100.5 average @ 5/6

So, the second semi-final will see Luke Humphries take on the surprise package of this year's tournament, Ricky Evans.

Sorry Ricky's you've had a cracking run, but, for me, this is where the dream ends!

Luke was sensational in the way he went about his business in his quarter-final victory over Stephen Bunting, whereas Ricky seized the opportunity to prevail against an out of sought Rob Cross.

I think Ricky will relax a little having reached the last four, but I still don't see the match going close, so I would be looking at under 17.5 legs in this one, whilst I also think there could be value with the 180s.

Now, if you want a safer bet, I'd look at the over 8.5 maximums in the match, as Luke will deliver five or six, I am sure, but I also like the look of the evens on offer for over 10.5 - they can both pound that treble 20 bed, so there could be some value to be found there.

Finally, Luke Humphries to register a three-dart average under 100.5...

I just don't think he is going to be pushed sufficiently enough to need to score in excess of that figure. He will still be in the high 90s, and that should be enough to secure him a spot in the final in relatively routine fashion.
