One of the most prestigious tournaments in snooker, the UK Championship is steeped in history and folklore.
'The Rocket' Ronnie O'Sullivan is the record eight-time champion of the event, with a plethora of other big name stars having secured multiple wins at the triple Crown competition since its formation in 1977.
Steve Davis is a six-time UK Championship winner with Scottish great Stephen Hendry one behind with five titles to his name.
John Higgins, Ding Junhui and Neil Robertson have collected three titles apiece over the years, with Welsh potting machine Mountjoy joined by fellow countryman Mark Williams, Mark Selby and Judd Trump in having lifted the coveted title twice.
Patsy Fagan was the winner of the inaugural event, beating Doug Mountjoy 12-9 in the final, before Mountjoy went on to avenge that defeat with victory of his own, over David Taylor, in 1978.
The current holder of the UK championship is England's Mark Selby who claimed his third title with a 10-8 victory over compatriot Judd Trump in the 2025 final.
