UFC on ESPN: Nicolau vs. Perez: Fight date, time, undercard & how to watch

UFC action returns to Las Vegas in April, Matheus Nicolau will square off against flyweight contender Alex Perez, after his original opponent Manuel Kape was forced to withdraw.

Nicolau had been scheduled for a eagerly anticipated rematch against former Rizin champion Kape, before injury saw 32-year-old Perez step in as a replacement.

The fight card is scheduled to get underway on Saturday 27th April 2024, however due to the time difference with Las Vegas, the majority of the action is expected in the early hours on Sunday 28th April 2024.

The preliminary card is expected to start at 21:00 UK time, while the main card will commence from 00:00.

Las Vegas is once again the setting for a UFC event, with this being the eighth occasion that this city has hosted a major bout since the beginning of the year.

Each of the previous seven events have been held at the UFC Apex and the arena will once again play host on 27th April, with two further Fight Night’s scheduled to take place here in May and June.

Matheus Nicolau record

Brazilian Nicolau will step inside the octagon for the first time in over a year on April 27th, with his last UFC bout ending in a first-round knockout defeat to Brandon Royval.

The current Number 5 in the Flyweight division has also competed at Bantamweight level, most recently winning via split decision against Felipe Efrain in his home town of Belo Horizonte.

A record of 19 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw in his professional MMA career makes the 31 year-old a tough opponent for many in his class, while Nicolau has also had happy memories of fighting in Las Vegas, winning each of his four fights here.

Alex Perez record

California native Perez has an overall MMA record of 24-8-0, with six of those wins and four defeats coming in his time in the UFC.

The 32-year-old is on a three fight losing streak in UFC stretching back to 2020, most recently losing a unanimous points decision against Muhammad Mokaev back in March.
