Check out the full results after a UFC Fight Night event in Oklahoma City headlined by a middleweight showdown between Dricus Du Plessis and Kamaru Usman.
In a middleweight division that has been blown wide open by Sean Strickland's upset victory over Khamzat Chimaev in May, both Du Plessis and Usman went into the Octagon knowing that a victory could propel them towards a title shot.
After all, both fighters already hold a win over the reigning champion and are eager to make their way back to the belt.
Ultimately it was Du Plessis who made a strong claim to be the rightful No 1 contender at 185lbs this weekend, outlanding Usman in a Fight of the Night-winning clash at the Paycom Center.
The South African controlled large swathes of the five round bout with his striking, punishing Usman with knees and punches and using his significant size advantage to prevent the former welterweight from effectively implementing his wrestling.
While Usman was growing in momentum in the final round, all three judges ruled in favour of Du Plessis, and he will now have to anxiously wait and see if he has done enough to earn another UFC title shot.
Meanwhile in the co-main event the UK's Christian Leroy Duncan secured a three-round decision win over former title challenger Jared Cannonier.
CLD has now won his last five fights inside the Octagon and will be looking to climb into the middleweight top 10 in his next outing.
