It’s a quick turnaround for Perez having only just earned an impressive KO win against Matheus Nicolau in April.

The orthodox fighter suffered three straight defeats at the hands of Deiveson Figueiredo, Alexandre Pantoja and Muhammad Mokaev before finally ending his losing run with that important win over Nicolau last time out.

The 32-year-old from California has picked up big scalps in the past with victories over the likes of Jussier Formiga, Jordan Espinosa and Mark De La Rosa.

Now the former flyweight challenger will be looking to inflict the first defeat on Taira in his professional career.

From Okinawa, Japan, Taira is preparing for his first UFC main event match-up against Perez.

The 24-year-old is unbeaten going into this fight, with 15 wins on his MMA record. Four of those were by knockout, seven by submission and four on decision.

With previous stoppage wins against the likes of Carlos Hernandez, Jesus Santos Aguilar and C.J. Vergara, Taira is preparing for the biggest fight of his UFC career to date at UFC APEX.
