The Real Madrid striker played a pivotal role in his side's UEFA Champions League success and led France to the UEFA Nations League title.
Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne finished runner-up for a second year in a row, while Benzema's teammate Thibaut Courtois made up the top three.
The award was announced in Istanbul during the group stage draw for the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League.
